More history is located in the Newberry Library, which boasts a collection of rare maps, music, and manuscripts. The library also hosts concerts, theater performances, and lectures for the public. For those seeking some time in the sun, the glistening shore of Lake Michigan beckons. Oak Street Beach is a fully serviced beach with lifeguards, beach chair rentals, volleyball, and a host of restaurants. Oak Street Beach is a social hub in the summer months of Chicago living and is the place to see and be seen.

1. Nico Osteria: Nico Osteria is located in the Thompson Hotel on Rush Street. It is a chic venue featuring Italian seafood specialties and cocktails and wines.

2. 3 Arts Club Cafe: This picturesque cafe is located inside Restoration Hardware. Their unique menu combines coffeehouse fare with a traditional American restaurant.

3. 3rd Coast Café: From breakfast to late-night dinner, 3rd Coast, is truly a treasure. Being that it is Gold Coast’s oldest restaurant, it is full of timeless ambiance and good old-fashioned drinks.

4. Chicago Health Foods: Chicago Health Foods is our go-to place for fresh juice, healthy meals, and natural body care. Our favorite is their wide selection of supplements and tea.

5. Reformation: Reformation was born with a rebellious spirit and a lofty ambition: to make edgy, sexy, and feminine apparel using sustainable methods and materials while saving retail from its doom. This storefront is new to Chicago but we’ve been wearing their pieces for years.

6. Blue Door Kitchen and Garden: This restaurant is a farm-to-table oasis focusing on seasonal ingredients. The aesthetic is cozy yet beautiful. Every time we go it feels like we are getting a home-cooked meal.

7. 900 North Michigan: The 900 building is somewhat of a hidden gem. It includes a large Bloomingdale's, Lululemon, Equinox, and even a state-of-the-art food court.

8. Somerset: Somerset is a swanky, all-day restaurant in the Viceroy Hotel. It has a yacht club feel, and American fare, and cocktails. Everything on their menu is spectacular, you cannot go wrong.

9. Le Colonial: Upscale French-Vietnamese fare in a Gold Coast row house with balcony seating and an outdoor patio.

10. Gibson’s on Rush: Classic fare comes with a side of people-watching at the original location of the chophouse chain.
